Hi folks,
I've come up with an interesting project that I don't really have a clue where to start with.
I picked up a cheap HDMI switcher from amazon about a year ago (google HRS1051 and you'll find it) and it came with an IR receiver which plugs into the switcher via a 3.5mm head phone jack. The provided controller sends an in-fared packet to the receiver, which then sends a signal to the switcher - changing the input source.
What I'd like to try and do it simulate the a press on the controller from an arduino. This would be done by simulating the IR receiver over a male-male 3.5mm jack cable from the arduino to the switcher. I'll need to reverse engineer the communications protocol between the IR receiver and the switcher. And that is were I get stuck, not really sure how to approach this.
I don't really know how to go about that which is why I'm here, asking for advice. I believe I might need a "logic analyser" which is a tool I don't currently own but I can pick up a cheap one if needs be.
