Controlling an EL panel with Arduino

Hi All,
I'm a newbie when it comes to using a controller. My question is can I use a Arduino UNO to control an electroluminescent panel? I screen print the panels, but I would like to control the panels with more than just on or blinking effects. My power source is 12V DC to an inverter that takes it to 110V AC. Can the controller do this. If so how would you wire it though the controller? My ultimate goal is to have the EL panel do a fade. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The brightness of an EL panel is related to the Voltage and the Frequency with which it is excited.

  • brightness increases as voltage increases.
  • brightness increases as frequency increases. This also affects color.

there are articles on line, a quick google lead to this for example

J-M-L thank you for the link. Yes that will work but I was looking for something a bit easier. That's why I was hoping a controller may do the trick.
