Controlling Analog Volume Control from PC

Hello, im building a analog volume control for my hifi system and i would like to connect the mcu that is controlling the relays for attenuation to a PC, so im able to control the volume from PC, do you guys have suggestions to implement this?

i was hoping this would work:
pico as UAC2 device, so i can control the device volume on my PC (without using the actual audio data)

does your hifi system have remote control?
not clear what is meant "from PC", what is its role? explain what you do to change hifi system volume? or PC will do change automatically?

its planned that the device can be:

  1. manually controlled trough pot
  2. IR remote control
  3. possibly mcu connected over usb to change volume directly on PC

"the device" is known as:
Relay Attenuator
(half) Passive Volume Control
passive preamplifier and so on...
