Controlling Arduino via DMX?

Long story short, I need to turn on some led strips with an Arduino via DMX. What do I need to connect my lighting desk to the Arduino? I could use a DMX decoder but that only converts DMX to a voltage and not sure if thats an ideal way of connecting it.

We're using an Arduino so we can put patterns through the strips. They will be on a dress for a theatre production.

Bu why run a DMX cable to a dress? There must be a better way like some sort of radio control.

Running DMX because I want to be able to trigger it in the cues with the rest of my lights.
