Controlling Arduino Via USB Host Shield and Bluetooth Dongle.

So after owning my arduino for some time and learning about serial control (specifically using serial communication to turn servos, I decided to try out wireless communication. I read somewhere that communicating between my computer (a mac) and arduino via bluetooth would be easiest, so I ordered a bluetooth dongle (it has no name but its the only one spark fun sells) and a usb host shield from spark fun. When it arrived I plugged the dongle into the usb port and tried to connect it to my computer, but my computer couldn't communicate with it. I now have no idea what to do. Does anyone know the code necessary to communicate between arduino and a computer using bluetooth/ how do I do this. The general internet doesn't seem to know. Thanks!
