I just want to share. Its almost 3 months already now and I am able to control and monitor my lights using internet. Whenever I am out of town I am able to monitor my home.
Here is the video I made, but I used a Relay module instead of a LED to load high power appliance.
I used Arduino Pro Mini and ENC28J60 Ethernet Module for this project

Could you not have done that just with an ESP8266 on its own?
