Controlling Stepper Motor with Capacitive sensors

Hi there,

I am trying to make a "CNC" machine that will work on the x and y axis only. It is controlled by a stepper motor and a pulley system. I was wondering if there was a way to control the Stepper motors with capacitive sensors, making them like a "D-Pad". Meaning I would have 4 different sensors, 2 on each motors and they would turn the motor according to the sensor that is pressed. How would I go about to program it?

What have you tried? Can you control the steppers? Have you gotten the cap sensor to work?
