How would I convert a "traffic light" controller I developed from powering LED’s to actual traffic lights drawing heavy current?
Use a FET, if the lights are DC or an SSR if they are AC.
Solid State Relay - What current are you needing to switch?
One source for reference is Opto22. Make individual units and PCboard mounted units. There are others who make compatible devices.
If you are going to AC lights, I would use an AC SSR like the one in the pdf file attached. One thing it doesn’t show is the ground wire which you would definitely want to connect.
Otherwise a DC SSR is the same schematic, just different parts.
Hope this helps.
