Correct Fan Resistance

Greetings guys.

I just wanna clear my doubts.

I would like to control my fan 12v 1.3A via Rf on diff speed. ( 5v,7v and 12v)

I use;
4007 Diode
1k Resistor
TIP 120 Transistor

According to Ohms Law,

V = I*R

hence R = 12/1.3
= 9.23 ohms.

Does that mean I have used the wrong Resistor?

A fan should not need a resistor at all.
A TIP 120 is not a resistor.

What do you intend to do?

Give us a circuit and description of how you want to change the speed.

A motor does not obey Ohm's law!
