Corrupted Bootloader Qs

Hi folks,

I'm new to the Arduino community and was curious on what it means to have a boot loader corrupted. What does this even look like (on an Uno e.g) and what causes it to happen? Does it mean that I cannot upload code whatsoever? Can someone explain what this means?

Corrupted bootloader means that it is unable to load programs via serial line. Usual solution is to upload a new copy of the bootloader via ICSP.
