Could not convert 'mag.HMC5883L::initialize()' from 'void' to 'bool'

Hi,
the initialize() in HMC5883L.h exist as void initialize();, how can use it as determine like

while(!mag.initialize()){
  Serial.print("no gps!");
 }

Thanks

No. For two reasons.

First, void means the function does not return anything. There is nothing to test.
Second, the HMC5883L is not a GPS. It's a compass.

If you look at the example sketches for this library, it does give a method to determine if the compass is connected:

  while (!compass.begin())
  {
    delay(500);
  }
