I'm have purchased the new GoPro Hero 2, and I'm thinking about creating a custom bacpack for adding meta data (geotagging photos) with a gps module.
Do you think this is feasible? I have no idea what the expansion port on the camera is capable of and I haven't be able to find any info on it.
I doubt you'll learn much on something so new. You might try sending an email to the comapny. It's still privately held by the inventor (there was a video on him a week or 2 ago featuring the H2) so there's a small chance you might get an answer.
It's a good proposition as GPS metadata is going to become a must have for HD action cams.
It is already available in the Contour GPS cam (google it if you haven't already) so its probably not worth the effort to hack it.
I wouldn't be surprised if its not already planned as a future feature of the HD Hero range - maybe as a backpac accessory.
