I have figured out the base code for a simple morse in which pressing or holding a button causes a led to light up, however, this only works when connected by wire. Is there any way to do this wirelessly?
I'll take any help I can get
Thanks.
What is "long distance" to you?
You can use light, bluetooth, internet...
I was thinking around 500 miles because I have it hooked up to Bluetooth currently
Bluetooth can work on a range under of about 10 meters... (around 10 yards)
yeah I just have it hooked up between rooms in my house currently, any ideas for anything longer
Either learn enough to get your amateur radio licence or use wifi or ethernet to send the data over the internet.
Every radio capable of transmitting over 500 miles needs a licence to operate it.
Alright thank you
What everyone else said. The most feasible way to do this is over the internet.
All you need is a kiloWatt CW transmitter and a 40 meter Yagi.

Depends on the path.
Under line of sight conditions, satellite to ground, or high altitude balloon to ground there are radios capable of doing that in the unlicensed ISM bands.

The obvious question then, why 500 miles ?
Or perhaps do you mean 500m ?
