current sensing device

actually i am new to arduino.i have to measure current of a device using current sensor that is connected to arduino and arduino will display readings on my laptop(Arduino connected to my laptop)

my device...>current sensor....>arduino...>laptop(display)

Was there a question in there? I assume you are wanting to know which sensor to use. If so, that all depends on the Maximum voltage and amperage.

If you want to know how to program the sensor, each sensor usually Comes with (downloadable) libraries which include sample code.

What exactly do you Need help with?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.

How much current AC or DC and what resolution do you need to display?
At what potential is the point of measurement?

A description of your application would help so we can best advise you.

Thanks.. Tom...

There are a variety if Hall effe modules... up to 50A...

similar to: SparkFun Current Sensor Breakout - ACS723 - SEN-13679 - SparkFun Electronics

The software is nearly same for most all boards, Sparkfun has an example.

i have a sensor acs712...i just want to know how to program arduino so i can get readings of current.is there anything like i just connect sensor to arduino and run a program and it just gives me current readings??

Hi,
google arduino acs712

You will be surprised what is online, even some tutorials.

Please answer the questions in post #2.

Can you tell us your electronics, programming, arduino, hardware experience?

Thanks.. Tom..

i have to measure in miliampere DC current.i need a program.i thought if someone has it already ,it will be helpful.

TomGeorge is attempting to help you to find the examples; which is why he is suggesting that you do the googling ... he already has and has determined that the information is available with but a little effort.

We senior members struggle often with just providing you a link to canned-software and getting you off the forum to play - but that does not help you grow ... the old parable of teaching a man to fish and he will never be hungry. Not everyone appreciates that helpful nature, however. But unless you put out an effort, find some sample code, attempt to use/modify same to solve your own problem, then you will not grow and become a forum resource capable of helping others over the initial humps in Arduino. Since the forum is free and everyone is a volunteer, I choose to help those willing to put forth an effort to help themselves.

(I'm dumbfounded as to why this copy of Linux refuses to allow me to paste the clipboard into the response. My other machine does. Probably operator error!)
