Current sensor for AC the ACS712 or YHDC SCT-013-000

The disadvantage to the ACS712 is that is invasive. You have to break into the circuit to make it work.

The advantage to the current transformer is the opposite, it is non-invasive, but only works for AC.

You have listed the SCT-013-000 which is a Amp In/mA out. I would look at the SCT-013-005 (5A in per 1V out, 25A range) or the SCT-013-010 (10A in per 1V out, 50A range). Those two devices could be connected to the Arduino analog pins. Providing you don't draw more current and produce more voltage than the pins can handle.
