I Have been tinkering with arduinos for a while and have wanted to make a custom board. Can anyone guide me through the process?

That’s a very big request.
What is your experience with hardware and software ?
Are you familiar with PCB design software, have you any knowledge in hardware design.
Will this be 1 board that’s need or more ?
You'll need a schematic and PCB design tool. EasyEDA is free and not too horrible once you get used to the interaction style (and the terrible documentation). It is also somewhat integrated with the PCB fab JLPCB.com and its sister component vendor LSCS.com. That's important as one of the new aspects of designing PCBs is getting the component physical packaging right, as there can be lots of variants, and you've got to get it right or you won't be able to assemble the PCB. That's why you want to make sure the components you design with are the ones you physically get in hand.
Good luck.
