What am I missing?
- I highlight & copy a bit of text from program A
- Move to program B and attempt to paste
- nothing gets pasted

What do you wana to convey it's so confusing .
Do you want to highlight some issue in IDE software
on a linux computer, this works:
open one file
highlight, copy, paste to other file
close original copy
this does not work:
open one file
highlight, copy, close original copy
paste to other file
you need to keep the original file open on Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi and maybe all Linux versions until you are finished with pasting.
If you are using Window... after "copy" open your clipboard to see if the "copy" is in your clipboard.

Did you seriously post your question in a forum category whose title plainly states
DO NOT CREATE TOPICS IN THIS CATEGORY
Cut & paste is fundamental to Windows, it is something that I've used for years in other programs and is one of the very few things I like about windows. So instead of slowly retyping lines from another program and then correcting the inevitable typing errors I only have to make a few changes for the pasted code to work. Shouldn't that ability be part of Arduino?
BTW I was focused on fixing a problem and did not happen to see any warnings re: creating topics . If such is not allowed why was I allowed to post?
Did you view your Windows clipboard yet? (Windows-key-V)
Linux has always had copy/paste.
