Hello! First, I have to say thanks for viewing my post. I'm interested in making a Thomas Bangalter (from Daft Punk) helmet.
Here is a picture:
I would like to use 4 tri-color LED matrices as the display (found at LED Matrix - Tri Color - Large - COM-00683 - SparkFun Electronics ). I was wondering how I would go about hooking it up to the Arduino Duemilanove. Once again, thanks for the help.

by using appropriate shift registers chained together you can expand from 8x8 to whatever
system

How well would the shift registers work with 4 8x8 RGB matrices? Would that be too much for them to be efficient?

i dont know, ive never gone past 8x8, but the author of that article had 2 of them going just fine, one of the bonuses of shift registers is they can be chained together
