Damaged Nano, no USB pwer, failing to program withISP

I somehow damaged my Nano. It no longer powers up via the USB (no LED) and no port is found. (Other Nanos work from that same port.)

I tried to upload the Blink sketch to it using a UNO as ISP. But using Upload Using Programmer gives this error report:

avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.

Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override

An error occurred while uploading the sketch

If I try to Burn Bootloader I get a similar error:

Arduino: 1.8.19 (Windows 10), Board: "Arduino Uno"

avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.

Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override

         this check.

Error while burning bootloader.

Any other recovery methods I should try, or is it now ready for the bin?

yesterday i destroyed Nano, "Az-Delivery FT232" onboard, COM port recognized, no upload, no ICSP flashing or bootloading, signature 0xffffff, desoldered ATmega328p and programmer TL866 can read and write it.

Then I'm in awe of your desoldering skill, but not a route for me!

ok, what route is for you?

You can try powering it via the 5V input with an external supply.

Thanks a bunch! Now recognises the port and normal uploading restored. :slightly_smiling_face:
