I wish that VR was socket-based (and I had a lot of socket-based VRs:) . I have blown more of them than anything. Anyone else blew the voltage regulator on these? I put on heatsinks now on the VR module but even then I blew one.

Never blown one. I specifically use 9V power supplies on the barrel to reduce heat dissipation in the voltage regulator.

I had to read your post two times before I realised that VR probably means voltage regulator and not virtual reality
