Danmark - help to get the right device(s)

Hi I'm working for the Danish Red Cross. I'm part time teaching in one of Red Cross' schools. I've seen the basics about Arduino and I'd like to make a project designing a new school bell timer with some of our students as a week project. I think I need some fairly out-of-the-box set that is not much soldering. But I have no idea where to start. Can some of you guys point me in the right direction? What sets do I put together? I've downloaded the software for Windows and I'm just about ready to get "in the lab" with the students.

Sounds like a fun project.

Adafruit and Sparkfun have great kits. What to get depends on your budget and how much you want to be able to do.

A simple, soldering-free solution is to buy an Adafruit feather and a featherwing, for example
