data from sd card to wordpress data base

Has anyone ever made a database to store information that arduino records? Currently, I have all my readings stored to an sd card, but I would like to store it on a website I am building (first timer). I am using WordPress, and am curious if anyone has ever done anything like this? Is this feasible to be a weekend project?

The information I am currently storing to the sd card is temperature readings. I am then having to take the sd card out of the arduino to insert into my computer, then open excel to arrange the data to a chart that shows me the information. I would like to be able to view this information in chart format from my website if possible without having to upload it manually.

Can anyone provide any guidance on how to do this? Any sort of information such as example code, links that may be helpful, tutorials, or a wording recommendation on what to search for in the WordPress widget section would be very appreciated.

I'm not sure where your problem lies, but one solution might be to feed the data direct to Excel rather than the SD. You can do this with older versions of Excel using the freebie macro PLX-DAQ. This is simply doen over serial. You feed direct into an Excel chart with live updates.

Even if you don't live feed, you should not have to "then open excel to arrange the data to a chart" more than once anyway, but merely paste into a template.

You don't have to remove the SD either. You can dump the file contents over serial cable to a terminal programme. I do it to a phone via bluetooth, and you might find that more convenient.

I only have the newest version of Excel, 2010 I believe. Do I need to find an older version?

I want to be able to check the data while out of town though. Bluetooth range would not be ideal. I was hoping that I could set it up so anyone could type in my website which would allow anyone to see the data chart without having to go through an intense set up process to register their device.

What Arduino are you using? The Yun has built in Wi-Fi.

Another alternative would be to and send the data directly to your website instead of saving it on the SD card.

Depending on how you do it, you may need to also port forward your home router.

I have a Mega2560 with a Wi-Fi Shield I want to get a Yun, but I need it to have the perks of the mega. Memory, and number of pins is important for my project. Particularly SRAM.

That's what I want to do. I want to evolve my project from an sd card to my website. I would like the data to go straight to the website, I just don't know how to do that.

Have you done this before by any chance?

I am reading through all of the links you provided, but do not see what I need to do on the WordPress side. What code do I need for the WordPress side?

Can you make a youtube video that shows how to do this step by step? Someone that understand programming better could probably look at the snippets you posted and figure it out, but to an amateur, this is kind of confusing.

------------edit----------------- Also, I don't have a yun. I have a mega, I do not know how to address the differences in the example code you referenced.

Nothing, basic WordPress use mysql as backend, Arduino Yun directly access mysql.

I do not have a yun though. I need the mega because Yun doesn't have the memory (particularly SRAM) and number of pins that I need.

Both Dragino Yun shield and Arduino Yun shield supports Mega

I can't really find anything specific to Wordpress. A quick google search brought results on how to get Arduino data to the web. https://www.google.com/search?q=arduino+data+to+website&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Yes, you need to upgrade to Office 2000 or 2003

which would allow anyone to see the data chart without having to go through an intense set up process to register their device.

The simplest way to do that is to use the Internet of Things, Xively, Grovestreams, ThingSpeak etc. The data is displayed on graphs, anybody can look, from anywhere. No Java, no Python, no PHP, no mysql, no Yun, and no fartarsing about, just a Mega and a connection to the Interenet.
