Data logging without an sd card

I'm looking to set something up so that, I get data to a connected computer.

The process goes from a float system to move liquid from a tank to something else. I need the arduino to send this data to a computer and beable to translate the controls data into liquid size data and then put it into the computer ready to be moved to another text program. Possible? Please let me know and any tips would be nice, new to all of this.

You can send the data direct to Excel which then does all the translating in real time. This is done using a freebie Excel macro PLX-DAQ

Looking for it to go to something other then exel though. Is that possible

Use a terminal programme, like RealTerm
