Power your sensors, and microprocessor with batteries. Power the pumps with your dissected wall wart. This will isolate the sensors from everything (except - hopefully - the water you are trying to analyze) and provide sufficient power to the mechanical parts. Use optoisolators if you need the microprocessor to also control the pumps.
