The power supply provides power to the breadboard power rails so you can connect the motor directly to those rails to test it.
Are you sure that the power supply is providing power to the breadboard ? I see jumper pins in your picture that seem to indicate that you can select 5V or 3.3V to be passed to the breadboard. Which do you have selected ?
