DC Motor Torque sensor - What torque is measured?

Good day,
So I have a generell question. I have a DC Motor turning a shaft. The Shaft is connected to a load. Between the Motorshaft and the load I have a torque sensor. What is the torque the sensor measures? Is it the Motortorque or the Loadtorque or is it the difference between both?

There can only be one torque in a shaft that is rotating at constant angular velocity.
