DC motors, PCA9685, MOSFET placement

Hi,

I have an installation with 7 DC motors controlled by a PCA9685 and logic level N-Channel MOSFET's
The motors are all placed about 2 meters (6 feet) from the "hub" with the Arduino and the PCA9685.

Will it make any difference if the MOSFET is placed in the "hub" or close to the motor?

Either the power cable with 24V is stretched 2 meters from the MOSFET to the motor, or the PMW signal cable from the PCA9685 is stretched 2 meters to the MOSFET.

Same difference or a preferred option?

Cheers, Hal

Closer to the PCA9685 so that there is less voltage drop in triggering the mosfet.

Thanks for the quick reply, makes sense

And use twisted pair for all the high current wiring runs to motors and motor supply.

Don't forget the free-wheel diodes across each motor.

Thanks for the tip
