DC signal to switch AC motor

Hello guys.

I have a PCB that is used for other purposes as well, but currently I am using it to get DC signal from a device, say 12V. It then operates one relay that is mounted on the PCB which generates AC signal that feeds into a contactor which then operated AC motor. So my question is if we can replace the PCB with any relay that energizes with 12VDC and operates/passes AC which feeds into contactor coil and starts the motor.

Your suggestions are appreciated on this.

Regards,

Its often much less ambiguous to draw a circuit and post a photo of it, than to use words!
But I think you are asking "Can I replace X on a pcb with X not on a pcb?"
