dedicated power supply or step down from this one (link)?

I'm going with this power supply, mainly because its waterproof. Should I get a dedicated power supply for the arduino or just step the 12v down to 5 with something? This should be a decent quality power supply.

progressive automation power supply

can you recommend a product? not the most expensive but not something cheap that will go out before it should.

thanks. it's for the access gate project.

An original arduino andnany decent clone should work just fine when powered with 12V through the Vin-Pin

Alternatively, use a linear regulator like the 7805

like this?

There are literally thousands of projects online that show how to run arduino off a 12v source.

Look at them.

A forum is for people that tried something and ran into problems they absolutely cannot solve themselves.

Not for letting other's do all the thinking.

would this be appropriate if i wanted to drop voltage down to 10v to power a motor controller (9v min) which has a 5v output that can power the arduino?

thank you
