Demystifying RFID with Arduino and MFRC522

I wrote a tutorial on understanding some of the basics of RFID using the MFRC522 RFID reader and Arduino. It demystifies some of the components and terminology often ignored in intro tutorials. I'm hoping it's of interest to someone out there that wants to dig into RFID and specifically how to read and write data to tags.
