Taksan:
Hi guys,So I have a 12V power supply and 1A output current. I do have 3 valve solenoids that are operate at 24V. I want to to build my own boost converter to boost from 12V to 24V and 2A output current. So what is the best switching frequency and mosfet switch for this application?
Thank you.
LarryD is right. There's a power (energy) conservation law. The 12V, 1A power supply you have might happily supply 12 watt of power. If you want to boost the voltage to 24V, then there's going to be a power limitation that is going to depend on your original power source (plus some power losses due to conversion maybe).
The 24V 2A target (assuming max output) .... with 48 watt max can't be achieved, because the bottleneck will be with your 12 watt max original power source.
So, probably best to just get a 24V, 2A source (buy one) to use to begin with. Or even better..... 24V, 5A source ..... to give enough head-room.
