Detect a knock in a surface

Hi everybody,

This is Jordi, in my first post I'd like to ask you one question:P

How can I detect a knock in a big surface? For example a table or a dartboard?

Now I am detecting knocks with a piezo element quite good, however those sensors are quite small.

Alternative is accelerometer.

I'll try it. An other option I came up with is to use something such a wire attached to the piezo. When the wire will receive a hit, the piezo may detect its vibration (it might be useful for a dartboard knock detection).

Finally I got my solution for my dartboard. It is the velostat.
