Detect motor jam with l298n

Hey in trying to be able to detect when the motor stop spinning. I cannot use limit switches for this application. Does anyone know a way? I am using an Arduino board and l298n h bridge motor driver

Hi
Well you can’t with the L298N only and even so you shouldn’t. If the DC motor gets stuck douring operation, it draws a freaking lot of current wich it is not designed to sustain for long periods of time.
I’d suggest to buy the limit switches…

The official “Arduino motor shield” (with L298) uses 0.15 ohm resistors in the ground pins of the chip to detect motor current.
