Detecting pencil movement

Hello, i am trying to find something that will detect movement and then log it, so I can detect what a pencil writes and have it on the screen.

Are you thinking something like a smart white board or webcam/projector type setup?

More like a device on a pencil that can log its position and detect change in its position and then I can make code to turn the cords into a drawing

turn the cords into a drawing on the screen*

I think you're better off using a tablet with that sort of functionality with screen sharing or video out. You haven't posted anything you've considered yet so there's a huge amount of planning and research yet to do.

I don’t think this is practical to build - you need something to measure the position of the pencil in 3 dimensions and something to communicate from the pencil to a host .
I can’t think how you would do that , but in any case you’d have a lot of hardware hanging off a pencil .

Are there any commercial devices that do what you want ?

How a commercial device does this might be a clue as to the best way forward.

Actually 4 dimensions, since they also want movement!
