Developing my project into a product - PCB layout design price questions

Firstly I think that this is in the right section, if not feel free to move me

I have created an Arduino project and I would like to turn this into a PCB design. Currently there are a few inefficiencies in the design as there are unnecessary components (unneeded pins etc) and the Microcontroller might also consequently need to be changed. Therefore I need to pay someone to go over the circuit and make it more efficient, the circuit is currently at 75 components and I believe that by optimising the circuit it could be got down to 55-60 components.

Once the circuit has been perfected (or close to it ...) I will need to have the PCB layout designed, the PCB should be between 55-60 components. The component placement and routing does not need to be particularly close as I have 25 square inches of space available inside of the product! Consequently whether it is 1 or 2 sided will come down to design and manufacturing cost as opposed to saving space.

So my question is: How much would I be looking at for someone to optimise my circuit? How much would I be looking at to have a 55-60 component PCB layout to be designed? I would do it myself but I am lacking ... when it comes to final product circuit designing skills. The results of online calculators seem to be vague and have huge ranges and I don't want to be the mug getting ripped off!

If anybody has any companies that they are aware of which provide good prices I would love to hear them (UK preferably) and if anybody needs anymore info feel free to ask.

Thanks for your time

I have sent you a pm.
Its not relevant to the thread so please no flames.

I do that all the time for folks.
I try to limit designs to 100mm x 100mm to keep PCB costs down. Double sided board for traces with all components on one side is standard build technique.
Need to see your schematic to give you a quote.
e-mail me Robert @ crossroadsfencing. com

I think I have more than 60 components on this board. I recently completed a much more compact design with nearly 300 components mounted on both sides of a 2 layer PCB.

Ignore the pm , I was just quick off the mark

I am still a reasonable distance off actually placing an order for the work to be done, I am just looking for a ballpark figure so I know roughly how much capital I need to be raising. I don't have the schematic with me right now, but the circuit is an arduino mini connected to 16leds, dht11 sensor and an ldr.

I found a guy online who says that he will redesign the circuit for 150 and design the PCB layout at 100, so 250 total. Does that sound about right?

Is that an acceptable figure to you.?

That's how the quoting system works.

Can you be sure of his abilities ?

Crossroads here has a track record and he is unlikely to want to spoil that.

Dollars, pounds, euros?

You are doing something I started last year.

You really need a schematic and itemised parts list prepared so you can email for quotes

There is a good reason for that.
They do not know enough detail about YOUR project.

Sorry, the figures where in pounds but my American keyboard only has a $ symbol. When I get back to my main computer in a couple of days I will post the schematic.

You really should post the schematic to the person doing the quote.
So long as you are not worried about everyone seeing it it does not matter of course.

One im working on I would not be allowed to post.

I meant that I would pm it, got my terminology wrong!
