I have a brand new Arduino uno r4 wifi.
Sample heart program ran ok.
Installed IDE and tried to update firmware... got an error.
Tried 2-3 more times with same error.
Now the board is not recognized by windows anymore. USB connect disconnect sound plays every 1 second or so and device manger tries to refresh the device list.
2 quick press on reset button do nothing.
Reconnecting USB did nothing
Using another usb port or cable the same
What to do?
Something is broken in the tool chain on old machines with Windows 10. Had no success in flashing it.
Tried also flashing ESP32 from command line, but that also throwed timeouts at various points.
Moved to a Windows 11 machine, ESP flashing flashing worked like a charm! Installed IDE everything ok.
Please consider a warning label for windows 10. This will help users look for fantoms like: checking for wrong USB cable, wrong drivers, install uninstall IDE, reset board multiple times, command line tools for flashing, dive deeper and deeper into forums, with stranger and stranger solutions.
Your contribution saved my life ! Struggling with the same problem. Same symptoms, same damn.d W10, Arduino R4 WiFi firmware not updatable via IDE 2.2.1 (error twice)... Now trying from my other machine under Ubuntu !
