DG600F parallel port coin acceptor hookup

I am trying to understand how to hookup LEDs to the parallel port of a DG600F coin acceptor. The technical manual states that the pins are active low. So do I connect the cathode to ground or anode to 5 or 12v connector?

I also want to know if the 12v of the parallel port is tolerant of 15v because my power plug-in adapter is reading 15v.

I saw a YouTube video (in Spanish) showing the hookup of both and serial port but explanation of the circuit was not clear. I already checked this forum for parallel connection but only getting stuff about the serial port.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

connect the LED cathode to the to the port output.
connect the anode to a resistor.
connect the other end of the resistor to 5 or 12V.
If you connect to 12V then use a 680 or 750Ω resistor

also want to know if the 12v of the parallel port is tolerant of 15v

It says max 15V but I would stay below that.

Ok thank you so much, Jim.
Have a good day!
