DHT22 constant timeout error.

I have a RHT03 (DHT22) all connected up, yet in the serial monitor, it just reads "timeout error -999.0 -999.0"

I am using a 10K resistor.

I followed the instructions at http://playground.arduino.cc/Main/DHTLib#.Uy0oQKiSzng and copy-pasted the sketch in (minus the read/display data for DHT11 and DHT 21).

It uploaded just fine, but the sensor is just not reading. Dud sensor?

Thanks for you help in advance.

Just to be sure that you did not comment out too much or alter anything accidentally can you please post the code that you are using and confirmation of exactly how the sensor is wired.

Did you see this note on the Playground page ?

There have been reports that some sensors have pin 3 and 4 reversed, probably as a quality control/manufacturing issue. If you have issues, consider grounding both pins 3 and 4.

Thanks for the reply,

I've yet to try this as I now have the dreaded

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00

Completely unresponsive to any solutions that many people have tried. Awaiting a replacement in the mail.

Alright, I got a new board.

I have both pins 3 and 4 grounded and the code is running fine now. I alternated between pulling pins 3 and 4 out to see if anything would happen, but it runs fine either way?

Not sure what the problem was.

Thanks for your help
