I recall reading the instructions for one of these sorts of sensors, it was quite complicated, you were supposed to put it in the fridge, then the clothes drier, for three days, some sort of bogus procedure. I don't see anything like that in the instructions for this one.
You said you tried a different version of library code, and got a checksum error. Where did that other code come from ?
