so i got board last night and i connected a bunch of wires to a battrey thing on like a tv remote on the back and when i did i smelt burning once i unpluged it all my arduino uno wont let code upload on to it and only the gnd and v5/v3.3 works

every electronic component has smoke inside.
If the smoke comes out it stops working...... 
The fix is relative easy, use the existing one to connect wires etc to where you do not know what you are doing and purchase a new one that you want to work. Electronics is like glass, break it and it does not go back together.

if you smelled burning it is because smoke came out.
Okay, I'll bite. What is that? It sounds like you don't even know what it is. Maybe we can help you identify it if you provide a photo or link.
