Did I fry my arduino ext. power?

My arduino powers on just fine with the USB. I used a dc power supply before through the power jack and it use to turn on the arduino without the usb. Today i hooked up the arduino to the power jack and turned on my dc power supply. It was on 24v, I forgot to lower the voltage before I turned it on.

Did I fry my arduino board power jack?
How do I check?
I also tried powering it through the vin and ground...nothing.

Also... I'm using 12v now to try and power arduino.

you fried the on-board regulator.

Agreed. The on-board regulator is likely finished.

lucky it didn't fry everything.

I'm not so sure. I actually think it is bad luck to lose the regulator just on 24V. It's possible, but I would have thought it would go into thermal shutdown first, with no permanent damage.

I think the specs for the regulator say 16v max, its not a current or heat failure, just the voltage punching holes in the device...

You could also have fried the capacitors on the front end of the regulator as I think these are 16V devices on some builds.
