Did I get a bad arduino?

Wondering if anyone can help me out here, I'm thinking i got just a faulty Arduino uno off of Amazon. The issue I'm having is that I can't get the computer to recognize the Arduino. I use a Mac, but have tried a windows computer as well and get an error that it doesn't recognize the device on windows device manager. Tried to upgrade the drivers using an old method and the arduino.inf file, but get the error that the best drivers are already installed.

I've tested the cable to see if it's "power only" but there is continuity between the middle pins on the cables. When it's powered on the green light comes on and it runs the blink program, so it's working, I'm just not sure how to communicate with it and make any computer recognize the device? I take it you have loaded an upto date Arduino IDE to the computer and loaded the drivers that cane with it ?

It’s possible ( likely !) it’s not a genuine Arduino and may need the installation of the CH340 driver.

If you are a beginner it’s always worth buying the genuine article from the Arduino site - it supports the cause and is less hassle , and always works !!!

At that price I doubt it is a REAL arduino.
The blue USB cable is a dead give away.

The official driver for a clone is here

You can ignore that fact that it is in Chinese.
