Different type of bluetooths for arduino? - SOLVED

Hello i was wondering If there are any other small bluetooth modules that works on arduino besides the hc-05 and hc-96? Everyone I have found so far are them two modules.

For good reason. HC-0x are by far the most popular. The HM-10 is a BLE device about the same size shape, price, and indeed, performance, thereby really having nothing to offer.

If you have good reason to pursue alternatives, you will probably be better off considering an ESP32 board, rather than Arduino, as they have on-board BLE.

There are a couple of original Arduinos with BLE support e.g.,

There are also some similar boards in the MKR family with additional battery support and different headers.

All of these boards are supported by the ArduinoBLE library. This allows you to make full use of BLE GATT instead of just providing a serial replacement. The library is easy to use and comes with a set of examples for both the BLE peripheral as well as central device.

You can learn more about this from the library introduction page.

Hello everyone, Thank you all for the help. I’m working on my own IOT watch.

I’m using the pi pico processor at the moment. A friend of mine is helping me to design a board.

I’m good got post all the files in here when done. It will have two PCB boards like what the dedauth watch is. I’m still not good at soldering or reflowing surface mount parts. The pi pico I have two of them from online that are very small.

I was thinking of the esp32. I just thought it be cool to use the pico. And plus I’m still learning how to surface mount stuff. No final put together on everything and I might change from the pico to a esp32.

I recommend you compare the ESP32 to the nRF52840. The ESP32 supports WiFi and therefore likely requires more power. A pure BLE devices like the nRF52840 should theoretically be more power efficient. But you must read the datasheet and compare the electrical characteristics to be sure.

Both the ESP32 and nRF52840 should be able to run your entire application without the need for another processor.

Hello, I'm looking at the nRF52840. It looks promising. And also I have a small form factor one that will fit perfectly. Thank you.

Hey nice thank you. I don't need wifi. And yes I can disable it and use the esp32. Well I'm still up in air on what Processor I would like to use. Originally I wanted to use the pi pico because the screen I wanted to use work better On the pico. But I never tried it on a esp32 yet. I will check it out. Thank you.
