Digital pot less resistance than expected

Hi everyone,

is there a maybe an obvious reason why a 100k ohm digital pot version of the one in the link does only have 60K ohm when it receives the max value? I was able to control it the way I want but it only has a resistance of max 60% when I send a 0xFF via SPI.

Did you compute that when configured as a potential divider as shown in the data sheet? OR did you try to use an Ohmmeter?

I used an Ohmmeter.

In which care it will give you a false reading. You can't use a ohm meter in an active circuit,
This is because the meter try's to push current round the two electrodes and the current already in that circuit gets added to it, thus giving you a lower reading than it should.

Damn it thank you. Indeed it's false like reading a regular resistor in a circuit.
101 of measuring

Connecting A to Ground and measuring between W and B gave the correct values in the active circuit.
