I have a digital servo [HD1235MG]. I understand from RC websites that they process data internally to provide higher freq pulses to the motor, but essentially work the same way as ordinary ones. Is this right? Can I still use the Servo library in Arduino 1.0.5 in the same way as for analogue servos?
If I interpret the Chinese data sheet at Pololu correctly, yes servo library will work.

That stall current needs special consideration, methinks.... Forum wisdom is to budget 1A, that's almost 10x that.
