Think a 1N4148TA will work? I've got some on hand already.
It will work but the turn-on voltage, or forward voltage, will be higher. The 1N4148TA needs 1.0 VDC versus 0.41 VDC for the 1N5711. Yet, your signal should still be above the ~3 VDC an Uno needs to be sure the input registers as HIGH.
