dimming ccfl's

hi,
i want to dim some ccfl’s. they are dimmable with 12-15 volt before the inverter. can i use a transistor (that gets 15Volts input) and control it with pwm to get sth. between 12 and 15 volts, or do i have to go abother way?

thanks for help

I believe CCFL's do use PWM in order to dim but if yours has a specific dimming input then it may use something else like a analog voltage.

hi, so is it possible to control analog voltage with a transistor or doi need another components?

thanks

Using PWM with a RC filter (basically a resistor and a capacitor) is good enough for analog out.
Either that or use a proper DAC chip to do it.
