Could anybody please point me to a diod component that passes 2A?
I use a router in my Arduino robot and need to include a diod for being sure of no accidental short!

Choose a schottky diode if you can find one with a high enough voltage rating, it'll
get far less hot. For that sort of current the diode will need some sort of heatsink
and there are many schottky diodes (or pairs of diodes) available in a TO220 sized
package with metal tab.
