So there is this thread I've particpated in. Then the thread goes off subject, or worse, it is a "less than brilliant" person asking the questions, misunderstanding the answers or rambling.
I thus click the NOTIFY button, and the dialog box asks if I want to DISable notification for the subject, which I do. But I still get emails, and it still pops up in my unread replies.
The other way round seems to work - I read an interesting subject and thus turn notifiction on, even without having contributed to the thread.
Is it me, wrong button, or could the feature need a tweak/patch?
If you have made a reply and have Mail-notification on replies turned on, then that overrides.
The box on an individual message is for those you're just listening in on.
In preferences/profile you can get a list of ever post your being notified on (including those by the act of having replied) and clear "subscription" on that thread. Lets see if that works (I have a few threads I regret having gotten involved in )
The only way I have found of a thread I had commented in not showing up in Unread Replies is to delete my posts in that thread. Not ideal if people have responded to my comments as it breaks the chain but rather that than me getting twaddle when the thread has degenerated into off topic or hijacked.
