I want to make a dish pointer and i need help with the basic code. So i want to have 4 relays that will switch on a separate motor driver and they will control the azimuth and elevation. I want to control them instantly on or off with 4 buttons (1 relay for up, 1 for down, 1 for left and 1 for right) and i need suggestions for some kind of sensor that will sense the rotation and will print out degrees on a i2c display in the future i will try to integrate it with computer software so i can operate from there and i need the possibility to save positions in memory and move it from one position to another with the push of a button. Can someone help me with the code i will appreciate it!
A shaft encoder can be used to sense rotation. Most are incremental and need to be "homed" after system power up, but you can also buy absolute shaft encoders.
I use a 10K-ohm linear pot.
On this forum, members are happy to help people solve specific problems with the code and equipment setup that they already have.
If you want someone to write code for you, post in the Gigs & Collaborations section and be prepared to pay for the help.
In that case, also be prepared to post a wiring diagram for all the circuitry associated with your dish (motor drivers, position pot, etc.). Post links to the motor drivers.

If this is an outdoor dish, the moisture will get to a pot and it will be a source of
problems and need replacing every so often. A magnetic encoder chip potted/sealed
might be a more long-term approach (most encoders are not IP67 rated!)
I’m guessing the positioning is going to be important - you might not achieve the accuracy you need with simple off/on control unless it’s moving very slowly . You might need to look at varying the motor speeds
